Unusual Bleeding

Hi all, I'm slightly getting worried day by day as I'm bleeding outside of my period (very light only when I wipe) - I've inserted a tampon to make sure it coming from my cervix not anywhere else.

I had my period 2 weeks ago but the past few days I've noticed my breasts are bigger/sore too as well as the bleeding.

I've never had concerns like this before and as I write this I've just coughed and felt the blood (tmi sorry) come out so I've now had to insert a tampon.

Any ideas?

Could you be pregnant?

You may have a cervical ectropian. This can cause bleeding between periods, bleeding after sex and it can be mild or severe. I saw a gynaecologist when I was having irregular spotting and bleeding even after a simple cough or sneeze. I needed to have that area on my cervix frozen, using cryotherapy. But it can also be treated with silver nitrate which is painted on. You may find it clears up on its own so maybe give it a bit longer before you go to your gp. Keep a record of when it happens. My dr wouldn’t refer to a gynae until you’d had inbetween bleeding over a few cycles.

My first thought is it's likely to be hormonal (due to the accompanying breast pain). First step would be to take a pregnancy test if there's even the slightest chance you could be pregnant.
Have you recently started or changed any hormonal contraceptives / HRT?
If the above are not helping to find answers, then see your GP for some blood work and to rule out anything else.

Yes, because of the timescale and the breast pain I would've gone hormonal or two, possibly around ovulation

I've had this the last couple of months too, both times around mid way through my cycle. I'm going to keep an eye on it and have it checked if it doesn't settle. I've got no pain ( slightly sore boobs!) and no bleeding any other time. I'm 40 and wondered if it could be pre menopausal?!

This was definitely peri-menopause for me.
