Bartholins cyst please help!!

Hi,

I had a bartholins cyst and when I was in labour they got rid of it for me which was absolute agony even on gas and air which is why I don’t want to go to the doctors and would rather try everything before I have to go back for treatment.

It came back very quickly after birth (End of Nov 2020) but even bigger and this time is hurts which it didn’t before.

I have tried Phoebes cure, just made it bigger!! And tonight I thought I may as well just pop it myself. I sterilised a needle and popped it and sat in the bath and squeezed, it eventually stopped secreting however it is still swollen and very sore to the touch now because I have jabbed it and squeezed it. Has anyone else done this and did it just drain away itself after they couldn’t get anymore out? I am also laying in bed petrified it’s going to get infected so have smothered Savlon all over it.

Please help!

I have had one more than once but years apart. Mine burst after a hot bath but I didn’t need a needle just held my breath and a little pressure and it went.

Mine settled within a few hours and then healed fine. Of course after you’ve meddled and squished it’s not going to feel the same instant relief than has it burst alone.

I’d keep an eye and give it overnight. Any sign after that of infection or you feeling unwell I would seek professional health care.

Sorry to hear this. Its sounds very painful. Do you mean that operated and lanced/drained it whilst you were in labour??? I can only think they only used gas/air as you were pregnant.

If simple lancing and antibiotics dont work, you'll need a marsupialisation- which basically leaves an open wound and allows excess put to drain. This is a minor op, but you are out.

You need to get it checked and as a minimum, get antibiotics! I cant imagine savlon will do much, especially if it was just a tube sitting in the cupboard. Please see your GP. For tonight, take some analgesia to help.

Crush up some apron if you have it and make it into a paste and rub it on top.

Should help with the inflammation slightly

@Babymumma18 sorry to hear this. I had one many years ago. At the time the GP told me to sit in a hot bath as much as I could and it did eventually go away on its own after a few days of sitting in hot water. However, I would definitely suggest you seek medical advice as well x

GeidiPrimes · 20/01/2021 23:22

I've done this before, but I had to squeeze it every night for a week to make it go away, (best done after a hot bath) and used sudocrem on the site. Probably more chance of reoccurrence when DIYd?

Babymumma18 · 21/01/2021 07:04

Elouera, yes however they drained the cyst once I’d given birth and I needed to ask for the gas and air back when they started to drain lol.

Seems sore this morning, I will just keep an eye on it. Not all of it has drained but want to prolong going to the doctors as I tried to book my daughters jabs last week and they told me to call back tomorrow as all have gone down with COVID which makes me nervous.

Also wanted to try sorting it at home as I am petrified of any sort of surgery.

Thanks everyone

Yes I have done this a long time ago. I actually numbed it with Bonjela first before lancing it Blush. Bathe in salt water regularly now that it is open to get the rest of the hunk out, as I remember this helped.

A little Magnesium Sulphate Paste applied a few times a day should draw out the remainder of the fluid. I agree though, look out for signs of infection and get antibiotics ASAP if things turn nasty.

Whatever you do do not put magnesium sulphate paste on it!! It will be total agony. It is only suitable for a cyst that has not been drained or on unopened wounds. I would have salt baths for a couple of days and as long as you don't start to feel ill or have a lot of redness in the area you should be fine. I've had it a few times always Lance them myself and haven't had an issue. Hope it heals well and doesn't come back 🤞🏻
