No period for 6 month

I gave birth around 8 months ago, since then I've had a bit of a nightmare. I keep getting BV which I am been referred to a clinic for a longer course of treatment hopefully... but since around august last year I haven't had a period. I had a couple of periods after giving birth but then they just stopped. I'm not on any form of contraception as we are trying, but I'm definitely not pregnant as I have done numerous tests. I have also been getting lots of tummy pain recently and some discharge, whether it's all connected I'm not sure but I have been to the doctors and had a swab and examination and I also now have to have some blood tests and an ultrasound because I haven't had a period in so long, just wondering if anyone knows why this could be happening? I know stress and weight loss and weight gain can cause a missed period, but they said because it's been so long they want to investigate further, just worrying.

I didn’t have any after dd1 and still managed to conceive dd2 in what must have been the first month I ovulated. I wouldn’t have thought 8 months after giving birth was that long but I am no expert.

The doctors obviously know that I gave birth 8 month ago and are still concerned I've not had a period in around 6 months

Hope you get some answers.

You are not breastfeeding, are you? If you are I would think it’s totally within the norm not to have a period after 8 months, mine took longer than that.

No I'm not breast feeding

What were your periods like before giving birth?.

You need to have blood tests done to see what your hormone levels are like now. They should be wondering whether there are problems with your thyroid levels or if there is a condition called polycystic ovaries (both can cause periods to stop entirely) which could also be seen on an internal ultrasound scan.

Hmmm I would get an std panel and a cervical exam as well as ultrasound, could be pelvic inflammatory disease

I've read that with pelvic inflammatory disease you have heavy or painful periods. I'm not getting them at all.
