Breast absess

Hi I wondeted if anyone has had a breast absess after the age of 50. I have got one which was going to be drained but they sent me home with antibiotics and I need to go back gor a scan. Getting worried now

Hope it isn’t too painful.

I had one when I was 48 and ended up in hospital for a week on very strong antibiotics. I was incredibly naive, so when taken to the breast clinic I thought it was to scan the abscess. I was scanned and had a mammogram, which wasn’t nearly as painful as i thought it would be. Everything was fine and the abscess cleared up.
Fortunately the doctor pointed out a goitre on my neck which turned out to be thyroid cancer!!
Hope everything turns out ok and the abscess clears up quickly
