Smear test results over Christmas

Hello,

Just looking for a little advice to try and curb my anxiety.

I had my second smear test over 2 weeks ago and still haven't had the results. I know with it being Christmas and with the lab probably testing for coronavirus as well it may take longer but I'm getting very anxious about the wait.

I had a normal smear 3 years ago after the birth of my first child, I have since had another child (3 months old) and like I said had another one 2 weeks ago.

Anyone had a smear test recently and had their results already? Am I being anxious for nothing?

Any advice would be appreciated.

I had one on the 9th dec and results on Christmas Eve (all clear). Probably Christmas is slightly delaying the results but hopefully you'll get the them soon. Ime it always takes 2-3 weeks.

Sorry OP I'm in the same boat, had mine on 18th and was told 2-4 weeks for results, is also my second since i had my daughter 4 years ago

I had one on the 15th and the nurse said it was taking 2-6 weeks for results. She said it may even be longer depending on what happened over the Christmas period regarding Covid. Greater Manchester area, not heard anything yet...

My results from a test in Nov were a bit delayed. Presume due to lab personnel off sick/quarantined and also post being a bit slower. Try not to worry

I’ve been waiting 6 weeks. I spoke to the gp practice a week ago and was told that there is a backlog but they are contacting people with concerning results quicker so no news is likely good news.

Just spoke to my GP surgery, they said it could be up to 6 weeks 😫

Finally got my results back today and although I don't have any abnormal cells I am HPV positive. Anyone have any idea what that means?!

Trying to get through to the doctor to discuss but they don't have any appointments till the 25th.

Thanks a very anxious Annie

@kathryn0812
Don't worry
Most of us are hpv positive at some point
Some of us may never know if we clear it between smears
I had cells removed over 10 years ago and have been fine since
Been married years (it can lie dormant for years even decades and then pop up again, your immune system usually clears it )
Tested negative last 2 times and to my surprise tested positive last sept
Just attend all your appts and you'll be fine
