Increased discharge & longer period

Hi All.

I had a baby in Feb 2020 and my period returned May 2020, since then my period has been regular, every 30-33 days lasting 4 days and once 5.

Over the last 5-6 weeks or so I have noticed an increase in discharge, it’s not excessive but I usually don’t have noticeable discharge at all, however specifically over the last 4 weeks there has been more. On two occasions I actually felt it “drip out”, then it would stop and a couple days later I’d have a visible watery streak, which then turned to a glue like consistency before my period started. It did put me on edge a little bit because it’s not normal for me. I put it to the back of my mind, waiting for my period to arrive.

Like clockwork, period arrived on day 32. Lighter than the last one, however I am now on day 6 and it’s still there. It’s not heavy at all, if I change a tampon after 2 hours then it’s just the external tip that is stained but it is still bright red. Again, very unusual for me.

I have been under a lot of stress over the last month, with my dad going through cancer tests (all clear, thankfully!) but I’ve been stressed before and I don’t recall it affecting my cycle.

I’ve completed an econsult with my GP but I won’t hear back today.

I also had my smear about 5 weeks ago but the result came back inadequate, they said most likely not enough cells collected but overall this has sent me over the edge.

Does this sound like a death sentence?

Does this sound like a death sentence.

Most definitely not. You've done the right thing talking to your GP and I suppose they are going to repeat the Smear Test?

I haven’t been able to speak to them today as it’s a bank holiday, I booked an online appointment.

Doubt they’ll repeat the smear; they said they couldn’t re test until Feb to give my cells a chance to regrow after my inadequate result. I wasn’t happy about it but apparently it’s standard.

Hi I know it’s a dead thread but did you find out what was causing it?
