Hi wondered people’s experiences on northisterone. I was prescribed today as my lining on a scan was 17 mm after 3 weeks of brown spotting / light bleeding. After scan a few days later very heavy full flow. Been happening like this for past 4 months. Had biopsy and all ok although lining was very thin at this point. Was given option of pills, Mirena coil or nothing or hysterectomy in a few years. I’m 42.
Told to take one pill when spotting and then stop when I think period starts. Anyone else took it like this?
My cycles have always been erratic so a little worried I will do it wrong.

My experience goes decades back when I was in national swim team. All the girls were given it prior to important / international competitions to make sure we wouldn't have period and we would stop taking it after the competition and periods would start a couple of days later, sometimes more.
Gosh when thinking about it now, the things they did in the sport world the 1980s. In all sports, it was common practise, unless you were very thin and had no periods naturally.

Years later, periods were fine.
I would do anything to avoid an hysterectomy at 42, so it is worth a shot. It is quite safe.

I had it last year for 4 months. It's okay to take it for few months. My lining did become thin after first period I had after taking northisterone. My gp gave me a combination med with northisterone so I could start taking it on 5th day of period. My Gynaecologist however said that my GP should have prescribed it same yours -to be taken at start of spotting or from day 14-26 of northisterone alone.
After using it for 4 months I have switched to mirena.

I took it for 3 months straight through so as to minimise bleeding as much as possible.
