Can I mix two antibiotics?

Hello. I am taking amoxicillin 3 times a day for a week at the moment (finish tomorrow) for a urine infection...

I'm 12 weeks pregnant and I think those antibiotics have now given me a yeast infection (itchy, white thick discharge etc and it's deffo a yeast infection)

They will obviously prescribe me more antibiotics... just curious is it safe to take two types so close together when pregnant? Thanks :)

You won't be prescribed antibiotics for a fungal infection (which is what a yeast infection is). Speak to your GP, they'll probably prescribe canestan or similar.

Thrush is a yeast (fungal) infection treated with anti fungal rather than antibiotics as you are pregnant it’s best to see your GP

Why will they prescribe you more antibiotics? Has the urine infection not gone?

If you do need more ab’s the prescribing dr will know more about safety than randoms on internet, and will give you the safest/most effective option.

You will be prescribed a anti fungal pessary. But your GP or a pharmacist is really the person to ask not MN.

Sorry ignore the fungal bit. I don’t know where that came from.
