Sorry for the gross pictures.

I started my period two days ago. This afternoon it got very painful and heavy. I flooded a pad in half an hour and was just starting to worry, when I passed this and all the pain went away. The bleeding has also calmed greatly.

But what the hell is it? It's white/clear ish with blue bits in the middle. Is it a blood clot? I've never seen one like this.

Decidual cast?

BashfulClam · 03/12/2020 17:03

I get massive clots like that and I get bad pains. The doctor said the pain is due to clotting blocking my cervix. Because the flow is ‘blocked’ my uterus is contracting to help push everything through. The pain is contractions and they ease once you pass the clots.

I've looked at decidual cast and it's not that big.

Ouch poor you, bashful. I hope it's just a one off for me then

That looks nothing like the clots I get on a heavy period. Hopefully someone will be able to help you identify what it is. Are you ttc?

WouldBeGood · 03/12/2020 20:03

Is it not just bits of period stuff?

Sorrytmipic · 03/12/2020 20:09

Not trying ttc conceive in terms of tracking cycles and planning, but we're not preventing it. So letting what happens happen. Why do you ask?

I've no idea if it's just period stuff, I've never seen it before which is why I asked. It could be!

I'm really sorry to ask this @Sorrytmipic, but is there a chance you may have been pregnant and this is a very early miscarriage? I'm asking because you mentioned white-ish/blue bits and the pain and heavy bleeding before you passed what's on the photos. An early pregnancy test might still be positive in this case.

AddictedToCrisps · 04/12/2020 13:32

@Sorrytmipic I asked about ttc as I wondered if it could be an early miscarriage but I’ve never had one so it was the only thing I could think it could be as I have not seen anything like this before. I did google images of decidual cast and there were a few pics that matched yours. Hope you can find out to put your mind at rest.

Sorrytmipic · 04/12/2020 16:05

I think you both might be right Sad

So sorry if that means it’s an early miscarriage xx Flowers

Ah, OP. Early pregnancy tests are a menace, unless you are having fertility treatment of some kind.

Many many pregnancies end like this- but generally we just write them off as very heavy periods and 'not this time'.

We were happier, imo, when we didn't know.
