Why isn't my GP referring me for an ultrasound

For a few weeks I've had backaches and minor tummy ache, with loads of gas and bloating. In the mornings I have to let out loads of farts sorry tmi but I also had one off very light bleeding mixed with discharge after having sex a few weeks ago which was around ovulation time. It hasn't happened since thank goodness but still got me worried as I never had this before. My GP said my smear test is noted and said it was checked for both hpv and abnormal cells due to the symptoms I have which came back clear. Last smear 3 years ago was also clear. She felt my pelvis and checked my vagina and cervix and said that it all looks fine but took swabs anyway. I am getting niggling aches down my groin and leg. I remember having these symptoms when I was pregnant. I had 2 bleeds as well and cyst on my ovary and it was a corpus luteum which was ever so painful! I honestly thought I was miscarrying when it burst.

The back pain was worse :( however I haven't had symptoms since, until now (was 4 years ago). Do you think it's worth paying privately for a well woman scan at a private clinic to check my reproductive organs or try and get gp to refer me? She said she doesn't see any need to as everything feels and looks healthy and my back and tummy aches are not related, but to see what the results of the swabs are first. I can't settle down at all.

Id see what the swabs say as i presume they wont take long to come through? If you atent confident in her opinion yhen ask to see a different dr for a second opinion.

Or if you have the money available pay for a scan to reassure yourself.

You've checked whether you're pregnant right?

The swabs will show of the cause is something simple like a UTI. If they come back clear she might order further test.

Diagnosis is often a method of elimination. They do the most likely and easiest s things first

Definitely not pregnant as I've just had my period. I've had 2 since I had the ovulation bleed, as I call it. Yes that's why I will probably wait and see what the swabs say first. I'm kind of hoping it is an infection as I'm already scared it is something more sinister but can't change the outcome so pointless worrying I guess :(

Hey *@yarncakes* how are you now?
Hi. Touch wood I am OK now. I no longer have back or tummy pains, they've both gone and I went and got checked at the doctors about the bleed after sex which only happened once and she said my cervix and vagina look healthy and my swabs also came back clear. I still get sharp pains in my groin area though, so I am still contemplating in paying privately for a scan just for my own peace of mind.
