Heavy bleeding a week after period finished

I'm a bit concerned/baffled... my last period started on the 13th and finished on the 21st, so 9 days ago. It was very typical of my normal mini pill periods (I swapped from one type that was making me bleed constantly to a different one about 6 months ago, and it's all be hunky dory since then. I normally get pretty miserable PMT a couple of days before, and my boobs are always agony as well.

I start bleeding again on Saturday, 7 days after my last bleed finished, heavy enough to be more than spotting. It took me completely by surprise - no low mood, sore boobs or anything. This morning (Monday) I woke up to a bloodbath - soaked the sheets, clots, dripped my way to the safety of the bathroom. Absolutely horrible. It's been that heavy in waves all day, accompanied by cramps and clots, soaking through a super plus tampon (and my underwear) in 90 mins.

What the heck is going on? Is it likely to just be a mini pill oddity, or should I call my GP? Any experiences/reassurance gratefully received.

Hey!
I had periods like this two months before they stopped all together and I never went to the drs. Which was stupid of me.

I am now experiencing all the symptoms of being peri menopausal. And still haven't been to the drs cos I'm convinced there's nothing they can do but confirm it.

My advise

Go to the doctors

Don't be a fool like me. I will book an appointment tomorrow I think!

Definitely go to GP ASAP. Bleeding inbetween periods always needs to be investigated. I don't know much about pill bleeds, but definitely get some reassurance. I hope everything is ok.

Thank you, both of you. I hope I'm not perimenopausal as I'm 37, but I guess that's possible. I'll try and get in to see a GP.

Isn't being a woman just really quite crap sometimes?

Certainly is crap. Did you book your appointment?

I'm still yet to do mine

Yeah, I actually had a telephone appointment tonight, the GP has put it down to a hormonal blip but is also sending me for bloods.

Get that appointment booked! Grin
