CIN2 incompletely excised

I had CIN 1 & 2 cells removed from cervix by LLETZ last year. A few weeks later I received a one sentence letter saying the results were adequate. At the time the wording didn’t fill me with confidence ,but ignored it with the assumption that all cells had been removed

Incidentally, I have now come across a letter sent to my GP about those results, except this letter contains more information and states CIN2 was incompletely excised.

It’s left me wondering what the level of risk is of leaving some cells behind and why wasn’t I privy to this information last year?

Is it unreasonable to feel annoyed that the results from a medical procedure have been kept from me?

As a side I have had some minor symptoms which I intend to see a GP about.

Has anyone else had a similar experience? Or had CIN 2 cells not completely excised?

Thank you

Not unreasonable at all - I'd be cross that it was kept from you. I'd go straight back to the GP to get a referral to a gynae. I'd want a colposcopy to see how it's looking now.

I had CIN 2 and because it was spread over quite a big area my gynae decided to monitor it rather than go for the LLETZ - he took a couple of biopsies and examined it every 3 months and as the biopsies removed a bit of it each time, what was left just went away by itself. Chances are the same has happened for you - LLETZ has removed most of it and the rest will just go away by itself. I think over 50% of instances of CIN 2 go away by themselves anyway.

I'd be really unhappy and I'd be asking for a referral to colposcopy to check the cells.
