Mirena strings stabbing me

Hi I had the Mirena fitted today and doctor said she left the strings long but they are actually hanging outside vagina and stabbing me in the labia. This isn't normal is it? Should I ring back in the morning?

I've had that , and I feel your pain, it was like having a needle randomly pushed in you. I only had mine in a few months as it also made my periods very painful which was enough to make me faint.
Make an appointment asap to get them shortened.

Yes I did thanks. Rang Friday and she told me to come straight down and she cut them. Don't know why they were so long she could see them hanging out!
