Heavy irregular periods

Anyone else suffer from really heavy and irregular periods? Since having my second baby 8 months ago, I had my first period after 5 months when I reduced breastfeeding (which were fairly normal). However the last two months I have had sudden heavy bleeding:
No warning/pains/cramps etc just out of no where flooded and today it’s only been 2.5 weeks since the last period.
Around 24 hours of being so heavy I am filling a super tampon as well as a night time pad hourly. Then goes back to a normal amount for a few days.
For that first 24 hours I feel weak and dizzy too.
Currently not on any contraception but plan to go back on the implant when I can get an appointment.
Is this normal or something I need to see a GP for? I don’t remember having this after my first baby.

Do not put up with this. Would see your GP and ask for a referral to a gynae, these types of issues tend to be outside a GPS general remit. You need to determine the cause as well as treating the symptoms.

Would also suggest you keep a daily pain and symptom diary particularly if you do not already do this, this can give the GP and gynaecology dept clues.
