HELP please...Been on my period for 4/5 weeks -share your experiences

Hi all.

Really stuck on what to do...I had my daughter almost 6 months ago now and went back onto my mini pill that I was on prior to getting pregnant (never had any issues, In fact never had a bleed on it) I went back on my pill after birth and the first time I took it I didn't stop bleeding for 3/4 weeks...the only way to stop it was to come off my pill...the doctor advised that Women can have irregular bleeding for up to 6 months. I went back on my pill about 5/6 weeks ago and now again I've not stopped bleeding for 3/4 weeks- no breaks just solid period. What is going on? My bits have been sore and aggravated too...I put it down to having such a long period. I can't understand why I won't stop bleeding as I have always had this pill and never had issues before!?

Not sure what to do as I want to have contraception but not keen on any of the other methods and this mini pill worked so well for me in the past.

Any advice or similar experiences welcome...

I think you need to go back to your gp, it is clear this pill isnt suiting you post baby. Also if you are bleeding heavily you may become anaemic and feel tired etc.

Op I went back on the mini pill after having my baby too and bled for months, months!!! Before giving up on it.
I'd tried it a few times over the years previously and each time bled for weeks to start with and then it settled down but this time I just lost patience with it . It seems a common thing with this pill

Ah thanks guys! Going to get an appointment this week- did you try changing to a diff mini pill? Are you using something else now that works? Definitely going to get my bloods checked too as suffered with low iron in past! Thanks so much ladies!!! Xx

I'm just using condoms now . Ran out of options

Not for contraception but I stated the mini pill last December and periods got even heavier (was on it due to heavy periods) and then I started one in June that's probably only stopped for about 4 weeks in total on and off.

Had northisterone and then coil. Then heavy heavy bleed and coil came out and so on northisterone until January when they'll fit another coil.

Worth asking for an ultrasound. But I've also heard some people don't get on with progesterone only pill. Could you tried s combined pill or depo? What about the implant?

Hi all,

I spoke with my GP today and they have prescribed some Tranexamic acid to stop the bleeding. Then I am going in for a swab and a check of my womb etc.

Will see what happens following that.
