Pelvic pains and missed periods

Hey, so I’m in a bit of muddle right now!
Basically last month I missed my period but was having cramps as if it was about to start. I took an early detection pregnancy test which was negative. As my period still hadn’t came I took another one a few days later and it was still negative so I ruled out pregnancy. This month my period was late but I wasn’t even sure if it was my period. It was extremely light and a brown pinky colour and only lasted about 2 days. It was basically like spotting. I had cramps as well. Now a week after the last day of spotting I have had really sharp on and off pelvic pains on the left side of my body. It is almost as if someone is stabbing me in the ovaries :( the pain is making me feel a bit nauseous and also my appetite has lowered compared to usual. Anyone got any ideas of what it could be? I don’t know whether to take a pregnancy test again incase but surly if it was an early detection one it would’ve picked it up. I was also reading about ectopic pregnancy and now I’m panicking it’s something serious. It’s so hard to get a hold of my doctors now so I’m really stuck for advice.

Sorry this is so long but any advice or similar experiences to mines would be so helpful. Thank you for reading Smile

It’s so hard to even get on the phone to my doctor now and it’s worrying me incase it’s something serious. Sorry you’re going through the same thing, hopefully you will find out soon what’s wrong x

Do you have a local EGU/EPU you could call? They would probably be more helpful than GP, although if you have negative tests I wouldn't worry about ectopic as ectopic would still give you positive.

Have you been on the pill or anything? Is this abnormal for you or do you normally have light periods? x

Not that I know of no, but I’ll try research and see. Last April it was suspected I had PCOS because my periods were irregular and also light. My bloods came back with a slight increase of androgen but my ultra sound came back clear. I got put on the pill which worked wonders. It is unusual for my periods to be like this while I’m on the pill and I’ve never had the pelvic pain before. X

It could be you had a normal periodic cyst which failed to burst and form a corpus luteum cyst which caused a missed cycle(quite normal when you have pcos). The pain you are feeling right now could either be that the cyst has burst or the cyst is increasing in size. You should get an appointment with your GP. A burst cyst causes a lot of pain but is usually not harmful. If you have a feeling of passing out then go to a&e.
