Endometriosis post surgery experiences

Hi all,

I had a laparoscopy a couple of months ago which diagnosed moderate endometriosis and the surgeon said they were able to remove it all.

Since then I have been getting intermittent but severe pain in my left ovary - particularly worse during my menstrual cycle (currently on my second since surgery) but also for some time after my period ends.

This is actually a pain I never had before. I know I had one cyst removed but can't remember what side.

Anyway, my question is, did any of you have new pains following surgery and if so did they eventually go away? Or does this sound like something I should be worried about? I will phone the gp but don't want to waste time if it's a normal experience for most.

I appreciate any of info or advice!

Thanks

I would contact the secretary of the surgeon who performed your surgery. You need to be seen, do not assume this pain will go away.

Presumably you were given a follow up appointment a week or so post lap to discuss the findings?.

Hi, yeah. I had a follow up phone call but it was between cycles and I had totally forgot about this pain. I think it lasted for around two weeks last time, and has just started up again.

I will try contacting the surgeon as you suggest though. Just wasn't sure if it's normal or not!

Endo is a chronic disease that will keep returning even after treatment ( I've had two laps done to help with the pain, had grade 3 and grade 2 last time) I would suggest speaking to the surgeon or ur gp about the new pain and maybe what treatment they can offer. I have always taken the pill back to back and only have one to two periods a yr which surgeon suggested to try and stop the endo growing back quickly and to try and help with the pain, only time I've been off it is to fall pregnant x

Thank you @88bowie. I am currently trying to conceive but my doctor also recommended that if I don't conceive in the next 6 months I should consider going on the pill long term to prevent it from growing back.

I hope things are well for you!
