Rectal bleeding during periods

I've thought for the last 6 months of so that I was also bleeding from my backside during my period. Tried to brush it off as blood migrating backwards and it just being there when wiping but this month I'm absolutely certain.

I have problem periods and pain anyway so I'm thinking it's probably endo as it only happens during period. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this and what you did?

I actually work in a hospital in a gynaecology department so theoretically I have people I can ask for advice. The thing is I also know all the normal treatments. I'm too fat for a laparoscopy and the waiting lists are huge anyway. Progesterone is not an option as bad for my mental health and I'm unsure about prostap etc. Strangely my job is also putting me off getting a professional opinion for some reason.

Any advice?

I would ask a trusted person within the department for advice on your symptoms. Weight as well should not be a barrier to getting treatment.

You should not have to put up with this, please do not continue to do so.

I can understand your hesitation but if you were my colleague and this was my area of expertise, I'd want you to ask.

Thank you both, and thanks for understanding why I'm hesitant to seek medical advice from my colleagues. Although I can't exactly put my finger on why I don't want to.

I think you're right though, I'm just going to have to do it.

As others have said, if you were my colleague I’d want you to ask

Maybe you are scared as to what they may say?

I have ulcerative colitis and always flare and bleed when on my period. This has happened for years, it must be connected! However I can't seem to get any doctor to take it seriously.
