Vaginal Itching but not Thrush or BV...

I was wondering if anyone else had experienced anything similar to this?

Vaginal itching, but with no discharge or additional pain.

But that goes away when I'm on my period and then returns again after?

I've done the home testing for BV and thrush and it's neither of those apparently.

Should probably mentioned I'm 10 months PP and also have been shedding quite a lot of hair... could be unrelated but did think it could be hormonal?

I will obviously go see a GP I just wondered if anyone else had experienced similar?

@Keepyourspiritclean

No idea sorry but following as I get similar, although my itching only lasts for a couple of days just after my period ends. It also started after giving birth.

I assumed it was probably hormonal, same as I assume my periods changing in general after giving birth (getting heavier etc).

Does your itching last all the time between periods?

Mine starts roughly a week after and lasts pretty much up to the next period.

What birth control do you use? Could it be a reaction to the condoms or lube?

Condoms, but it's the same type I've used for years. Sex doesn't have any impact on it really.

Plus last month it started before I'd even had sex so I don't think it's related.

Clearly not this in your case but for me it was the threads on my coil irritating me. Was bliss once it was removed after 18 months of suffering!

Hair loss after childbirth is actually you losing all the hair you retained whilst pregnant.

Cotton knickers, only use the ph balanced "feminine wash" (e.g. Femfresh) when washing that area. Double rinse your knickers after laundering, no fabric softener. It could well be hormones making you more sensitive at that time of the month, so addressing the items touching your body may help.

I went to the Dr about this. I was still breastfeeding and she said it's linked to hormones. Your vagina becomes dry. She prescribed moisturising creme. She said it's similar to what the menopause is like. Sad times!

If it goes away during your period, google for cytolytic vaginosis. Does it usually get worse after ovulation and in lead up to your period? If so, it may be it. Bicarb soda sitz baths will help.
