Managing periods until hysterectomy

Hi, I have finally been agreed by a gynae that I need a hysterectomy and have been added to his surgical list. I had to beg for a 2nd opinion after being discharged last year by another gynae and sent away with norethisterone, after which I became very ill with severe anaemia. I have very large fibroids.

I am taking norethisterone but I hate it, I don’t think it’s working anyway. He did mention that I may be able to have zoladex injections prior to the surgery and take HRT. I have already struggled to get my GP to agree to anything so I don’t know how to get them to agree to this (even though it’s written down in a letter), or how long I can have it for if the wait for surgery is long

Has anyone had this prior to surgery?
