Desogestrel, pros and cons please

Hello,

I've been prescribed Desogestrel as a treatment to very heavy bleeding. I'd like to hear from anyone who took it for this purpose and not as birth control. How long does it take to start working, side effects, what happened when you stopped it, etc. Also, are there any natural alternatives please?

I posted recently about starting the progesterone only pill (the same brand you mention). I was hoping it would mean I had little to no periods, but I've been on it for a few weeks now and have had a constant light period since starting it. I've been recommended to stick it out for three months so (hopefully) it balances out).
