Worried about lump & mammogram

Sawyersfishbiscuits · 29/10/2020 16:02

I noticed a lump below my armpit a couple of weeks ago. I've been to the GP and she's given me a good look over and referred me to go for a mammogram. I just got the call.
I've obviously gone through every scenario... I'm very emotional a lot of the time due to Peri symptoms.

If anyone has gone through the same or can give me advice what to expect that would really help. I'm 44 and never had a mammogram before, plus I can't tell anyone apart from DH (Mum has her own breast problems, Dad has dementia, best friend is going through a horrendous break up and I'm usually the glue that holds them all together).

Please if anyone has any wise words...

Hi, Ive just had my first mammogram screening and waiting for results. I feel very anxious about it.

The mammogram itself was very quick and the nurse was lovely. It's a little uncomfortable but nothing to worry about. Two pictures were taken from each breast each from a different angle.

Wish you lots of luck

Thanks for replying. I wish I could just go and get it done. Good luck to both of us!

Ironically Ive been called back for extra screening. I had considered going private due to being anxious but can't get an appointment with out knowing why I'm being called back. I am emotional like you due to peri which doesn't help.

As you say good luck to us both X

@Jessie40 Have you been back yet? I hope it went well x I'm going tomorrow 😒
