Itching after birth

Hello,

I know I need to ask a. Professional but it’s Sunday and Google is giving me nothing so just wanted to ask advice on here!
I gave birth 3 Weeks ago. Had an episiotomy which is healing fine and still bleeding on and off. In the last two days I’ve become really itchy and a bit sore down there, but it’s not my stitches. Is this normal? Is it thrush? Is it because of the bleeding etc?

As I say, I know I need to seek medical help but as I won’t be able to do that till god knows when (nightmare getting a dr’s appointment so will go to the pharmacy instead!) I thought I would just see if any of you have any wisdom!

Thanks

Is it your vulva or your section scar? I'm presuming you still have fairly heavy lochia. What kind of pads are you using? Some of those 'ultra' pads are irritating & uncomfortable.

Sorry, don't know why I thought you'd had a section.

It’s not my scar it’s me for sure. I’m just using supermarket pads, would they affect me that much? I’m washing with just warm water once a day, but not sure if because there’s so much going on it’s bacteria or yeast build up?

They could do. They're not very breathable. Since you're just 3 weeks post partum, the maternity hospital you delivered in might see you. I'm not in the UK (Ireland) but we can return to our maternity hospitals for aftercare. Try ringing there if GP is a non-runner.

Are you breastfeeding? Hormonal changes can cause dryness and itchiness for a bit.

Did you have an epidural? The opioids used in epidurals can cause itching
