The pill

I spoke to the family planning nurse the other evening to request a repeat of my pill (Desogestrel) have been on it for a long time now. She has insisted I go in to have my blood pressure and weight checked before she'll issue a 6 month prescription.

I am on BP medication and haven't been requested to go in for my BP checked for a long time! Anyway, I do not want to be weighed, at all. I am overweight, by a lot, I know this and I am taking it in hand by doing the 16:8. I don't need their lectures or input. Can I refuse to be weighed? Google tells me there isn't really a need to be weighed for the pill but I wanted some advice before I went in. I'm happy for my BP to be checked.

Do you just not want them to know your weight? Could you weigh yourself and tell them a ballpark figure?

nothanks83 · 15/10/2020 20:33

Yeah I possibly could do that. To be honest I am embarrassed by my current weight, I could understand if it was necessary to be weighed but it's not necessary to be weighed for a pill prescription so I don't know why she's insisting on it.

It depends what your BMI is really and the increased risk of VTE. I think it's only a concern when BMU hits 35.

The mini pill is ok when overweight or even obese. Maybe it's just a tick box thing so they have a record of it

Yeah I've been doing research tonight and the POP doesn't need weight monitoring as there is no increased risk of VTE. I know it sounds ridiculous to some but it's a massive issue for me so I will refuse to be weighed now I know. Thanks ladies
