First ever missed period

Hello,
I would love to hear people's opinions and advice on my current situation as it is doing my head in and i can't seen to concentrate on anything!!
I am 40, never had irregular periods, ever - always between 22 and 24 days cycle since i was 15.
I went through 1.5 cycles of IVF, 5 years ago with no luck due to the fact that i produce little or no AMH my eggs just don't reach maturity (tee hee, i have never been very mature either) - second cycle was cancelled as i wasn't responding and they found a tumour in my face, thankfully benign when removed.
I have been on thyroxin for years for an underactive thyroid but in January found i have Hashimoto's and so cut gluten out of my diet completly as this is the trigger for me (my mother and sister are Coeliac). Had lots of positive changes with the removing of gluten including finally being able to lose some weight, gradually, more energy and no joint pain.
Back in August i was a few days (6) late for my period and had REALLY large and sore breasts, esp my nipples for about 2 weeks. Period started very suddenly which is unusual for me, i normally get about 4 days of spotting and 2 days of cramps as plenty of warning but this time none of these. Blood was really bright pink, also unusual as normally quite dark.
I now haven't has a period since (42 days since the start of the last one), feeling knackered, hungry and have frequent heartburn. Had a couple of days of PMT-like emotions this week (i get super angry for no reason), i am crying at everything, waves of nausea and some cramps but still nothing. Taken two digital tests but they say not pregnant - not surprised as according the the fertility doctors i didn't think i could be.
We have had a stressful 18 months where we have lost both of my parents-in-law but believe me i have been under even greater stress in the past and periods stayed constant.
I looked online and it said to contact the doctor if i miss 3 periods in a row but it is driving me crazy (as someone who has been like clockwork all my life), has anyone else been in this situation and when did you contact your GP? Don't want to be told to go away and take another test!
Can anyone relate to this and help me save my sanity??
Thank you! :-)

I think you need to get a blood test

Hey @rubbishfemale81, are you still here? I was wondering what the outcome for you was...xxx

Hi, I am still about - period came about a week later - then a couple of months after that, hot flushes etc started so announcing the joy of perimenopause :-/

I'm only 41 (40 when it started) so bit miffed

Even more miffed that my bloody cycles are now down to about 21 days, it feels like a permanent period! Grrrrr

Hi, and thank you for updating! This is quite early for even perimenopause but it does happen, I've heard :/
I was wondering what else was stopping you from having your usual, regular period apart from the possible reason that you say now you're experiencing. Ah.
The joy of peri Menopause lol

Hang in there xx
