Bleeding after coil

I had a Mirena coil fitted a few weeks ago because of very long periods. I would bleed for about three weeks, have a week or so off and then start bleeding again. I was referred for a scan, nothing sinister was found, so I had the coil fitted. About a week later, my period started. I have been bleeding ever since. Today is week 3 since it started and it's showing no signs of stopping. Normally it would have stopped by now. It's very frustrating. I only had it fitted to avoid this.
I'm aware bleeding can be irregular for up to 6 months. Has this happened to anyone else? I can't face the thought of 6 months of it. Does it eventually settle down? Feeling very fed up by it all. I have some tranexamic acid leftover from when the doctor was trying to control the bleeding but don't know if that will make a difference or not with the coil fitted. I'm due to go back to the GP in a week or so to see if the strings are in the right place. I can't feel the strings anymore either. I could feel them at first but not been able to feel them for a while. Aah! Help!! Thank you!!

Also when they fitted it I had a hysteroscopy and they took a biopsy but nothing has come back from that.

When I had a mirena fitted , I bled for six weeks from light to heavy. Next few periods were medium to heavy and lasted 6-7 days with spotting before and after. What you are experiencing could be normal provided your mirena is in place.
