WWYD - risk reducing surgery and insurance

I've recently found out that I am BRCA 2 positive and have decided that I would like a salpingo oophorectomy. I was referred by the genetics team to the gynae clinic and my consultation is in Feb next year. I don't know how long after the consultation I would undergo the surgery, potentially it could be months.
I have private med insurance but that won't cover me for this BUT if I cancel the insurance I could put the money for the premium towards having the consult and surgery privately and be seen sooner.

What would you do? TIA!
