I think I have IBS. How do I go about having it diagnosed?

I’m pretty sure I’m suffering from IBS. And I’m sure I’ve had it quite some time without actually realising what it is.
I can get pelvic pain, but unsure as to if that’s actually caused by my mirena coil or IBS.

My main symptom is constant watery poos.
Sorry for tmi but I’ve already had 3 today. I can’t pinpoint what triggers it either, which is a pain.
When I wake up and have a wee, 5 mins later I’m back on the toilet with slight cramps.
Any advice would be great xx

Talk to your gp. I have it and I'm either running to the loo or can't go at all. Also try Buscopan tablets for your belly cramps. It's a terrible condition and has caused me great distress over the years.

You need to talk to your GP. A lot of gastrointestinal issues have similar symptoms, but different treatments, so it is important to find out what is causing the problem.

IBS is like fibromyalgia. It's the diagnosis they give when they rule out everything else they can think of (or can't be bothered to run tests).

So first they'd have to exclude things like inflammatory bowel disease (e.g. ulcerative colitis) or cancer. Camera tests are usually involved.

That's if you have a decent doctor. If you don't, they'll just go "yeh, probably IBS, off you go".

By which I mean, you can only be diagnosed with it once everything else has been excluded. There is no test for it.

Pain and gastro symptoms could be loads of things.

So, see a doctor about your symptoms. Start with the symptoms, not your self-diagnosis.
