Periods ! 2 a year?!

My periods have been irregular since forever. But usually sort of a week or 2 late.

They've gradually gotten (is gotten a word) worse, i probably have 2-3 periods a year.

Im not on the pill or any period-messing contraception. Ive had 3 pregnancies. (1 child) Ive been tested for polycystic ovaries, don't have that. Im def overweight, like a size 16/18 so that prob doesn't help.

Does anyone else have this issue?

Doctor just says, could be stress, could be weight who knows.

Makes me just feel weird, i mean i hate them so i shouldn't complain but i don't feel feminine, and worry about being able to get preg again.

Thyroid? That can also affect your weight.

How and when were you tested for PCO?. At the very least you need up to date test results. Tests also done on the wrong day can give false result too. This doctor does not seem very informed, is this your GP? You ought to be seeing a gynaecologist if you are not already.

I would seek a second opinion, something is wrong here. Stress does not cause such to arise. Also you’ve always had irregular periods and that points to hormonal problems rather than stress. Thyroid problems and or PCOS could well be the cause here.

@AttilaTheMeerkat oh wow i thought once you had the pco test that was it! Had no idea it could change. I think thats actually a great idea i will look into seeing a gyno. Thank you

My guess is that something fundamental has been missed entirely.

Any test too done over six months ago should be discounted, you need up to date test results. A day 2 test to compare your level of LH (luteinising hormone) against that of FSH (follicle stimulation hormone) would be helpful to you as would an internal ultrasound scan to see if your ovaries are polycystic. The cystic follicles associated with this can and do disappear but are replaced by further cystic follicles. These tests can be done also according to calendar days; you do not have to wait for another bleed.
