Dd age 20 irregular periods

Hi all.
Dd is 20 and has very irregular periods. She can go 4 or 5 months without one. GP put her on mini pill first a few years ago but that didn't help, so she went on the combined pill 18 months ago but that made no difference.
She's away at uni so mentioned it to the GP there, he sent her for blood tests to rule out pcos and thyroid issues, they came back normal.
She's a healthy weight, not under any stress etc, and not on any other meds. No health issues. Not pregnant!

Any ideas what could be causing it? Is it worth her seeing a gynae privately as GP not concerned due to normal bloods.

Thanks in advance

Maybe check a private route sometimes it can be like hitting a brick wall via the GO as great as they are often going private gives a full and Theo rough run through.

The different pills can have a detrimental effect on the cycle of periods. Had she tried no medications at all to see if her body will find its own rhythm?

Definitely meant GP not GO 🤦🏻‍♀️

The pill can and does mask any underlying hormonal issues present.

Irregular periods are often caused by hormonal imbalances.

What blood work has she had done to date?. I ask as blood tests done on the "wrong" day give meaningless results and therefore give a false impression. They have likely missed something fundamental here and it could well be due to polycystic ovaries or perhaps a problem with the thyroid gland. It is certainly in her interests to properly determine why there is a lack of periods.
