Mastitis?

Hi, I have a 16mo DD who was breastfed from birth. Been very lucky to have never had a problem.
Around midday I got hit out of no where with chills and flu aches, assumed I was coming down with something but after just doing a feed and feeling very tender in one breast, it occured this could be mastitis?
It feels slightly hard on the outer side of breast. No redness or heat.

I've started a new job 4+ weeks ago, so we have been going longer between feeds since then. Does it sound likely? How long until you felt better with it? Luckily I don't have to work tomorrow, but I'm hoping to not have to drag myself out feeling like this on Tuesday.

Possibly- try warm flannels and massage. Try and shift that hard area if you can. And encourage her to feed from that side, give her extra if you can. She's the best way to shift it!

My first symptom was a prickly feeling, like toast crumbs in your bra! It was funny, I complained about the feeling while out and about , and experienced friend nodded wisely and told me mastitis. However it was toast crumbs. A few weeks later, same feeling, no toast had been eaten- mastitis and I recognised it immediately!

Hi, same thing happened to me on Friday, sudden onset of chills, flu like symptoms, lethargy, one breast was hurting when touched.

I could feel a small lump in the breast which was hurting which I presume was a clogged duct.

I have been mixed feeding and 9 month old is fussy at the breast and doesn't feed much, shivers subsided after about an hour and half in bed with hot water bottle.

Have been warm compressing, pumping, and having hot showers to try to clear the clog. Feel much much better in myself but can still feel it there ever so slightly.

The toast crumbs made me laugh Grin
Thanks all, will have a warm bath and a massage later and see how it goes
