Breast fibrosis

I went to the one stop shop breast clinic about 2 years ago after having so much breast pain and a large hard area at the top of one breast, sometimes it hurt in my armpit.

The diagnosis was that I had a large area of fibrous tissue, like in a ridge shape across the top of the breast but nothing to worry about.

I stopped wearing underwire bras immediately and only wear non wired cotton. The pain got a lot better, but it’s now back and feels very tender under the breast too. There is no one spot or area or lump that hurts specially with one finger but if I press my whole hand against my boob gently, it hurts. It is tender all round my rib cage too. Also some kind of the sensation is like a sparkly nerve type pain as well. The other breast feels very different to the other. I would judge that this got worse about 10 days ago, I’m now on my period. To also add my shoulder and back hurts like a pulled muscle.

Does anyone else have fibrous breasts? It’s very hard to make a decision as to whether this is something to be concerned about or if it’s just part of having fibrous breasts! I also have large womb fibroids and I don’t know if this is also connected? I’m having a lot of symptoms from them too so this may all be hormonal. Can the fibrous tissue spread more?

GP appointment, today. Breast clinics should still be operating on a 2 week referral. This is definitely a change from your normal, so it needs checking out.

(I've been seen for re-occurring cysts in the last month, was only 8 days between referral and appointment)

Hopefully, the appointment will show it’s just a benign fibrous cyst.

I was to told to take evening primrose oil for the cyclical breast pain (10 days before my period), connected with the fibrous cysts. Evening primrose oil gave me nausea, so a friend suggested starflower oil instead. It really helped - as menopause approached, I had to double the dose.

I can’t today, I’m isolating waiting for COVID swab results.

The first time I got a referral I had to ask 4 times (at 4 appointments) because they just kept feeling it and saying it was fine. The breast consultant drew a circle exactly where I could feel the problem within the first few minutes of seeing me.

I will wait for the results then call them. I always feel like I am bothering them

I feel great sympathy for all the queries re breast pain. Unfortunately it seems to come and go as you go past menopause too. For years there is none then...same story as many women who posted.
Interested that one post mentions red spots appearing. Same for me hydrating cleansing lymphs with drinking water lime garlic and ginger. use a white cabbage not warmth for me. I keep a cabbage leaf refrigerated, which was recommended to me once and is even better for me. Keep well keep positive

@Menora what happened OP?

I’m still around so this popped up today!

well I did go back again and it was the exact same - fibrosis. I still get this every single month so it’s hormonal but it’s so painful. I just never touch the breast when it’s like this as it makes the pain worse and last longer. It does ease off after a week or so.

they gave me no advice on supplements though

aw great news! I reverently found a lumpier piece of tissue in my right breast and I am fairly spot on with self checks etc I’m only 28 but have major health anxiety, the other day I went through a rough one and started prodding and prodding the one area and then noticed a slight dimple if I pull my skin down.. now I’m not sure if I created that from the intense pushing ( was fairly bruised ) does anyone think I could have? Doc appt for about 10 days away but going to ring tomorrow and demand to be seen. X
