My now ex partner cheated on me recently so this week I had to take a trip to the GUM clinic for a full screen. However, the receptionist is a lady I know (who dislikes me) how much can she see regarding my details on the computer? I feel mortified over this Blush

Thank you in advance - I have googled this but failed to get a clear answer

Not sure if it's the same but I'm a nurse and I can only see patients names addresses etc. No medical details of a patient unless I need it to provide care. I could if I looked but you aren't supposed to look at things that are irrelevant ie I could look up my next door neighbour's history but I wouldn't need to so I could get the sack.
Couldn't you travel to another clinic ?

Bless you it's nerve wracking enough having to go to the clinic without the additional worry of this.

If it were me I think I would travel to the next town. Most towns have GUM clinics. However as pp said, my understanding is that if anyone within the medical profession opens a file of someone without good reason it can be a sackable offence. It's all logged by computer and it can be identified who has looked at what and when.

This regularly played on my mind as someone who disliked me worked as a hospital receptionist. I was advised to contact PALS if I had genuine reason to believe she'd accessed my files. I never did though.
