Perimenopause and depression

I suffered from depression in the past without medication and it was a terrible time.

More recently when depression came, even though it was less crushing, I went on to ADs and have been on for nearly 2 years and feeling mostly fine.

I've never suffered particularly with PMS, apart from slight and short lived mood changes.

I'm mid 40s and have started to notice that mid cycle I am getting terribly low and really hating life, despite the medication, which usually makes me feel pretty normal. Does anyone else have this? Is ovulation related depression a thing in perimenopause? I also have headaches at the same time and around my period. My periods are still normal and regular but this is taking me out of action for a few days each month.

I'm definitely struggling with my mood at some points in the month during perimenopause. Ovulation is one. I tend to feel very tired as well up until just before my period, when I will get a burst of energy.

So far what I've found helps most is exercise and being outdoors - obviously I'm not suggesting that these are cures for depression! But worth a try to see if it will help at all.
