Cannot get a colposcopy appointment

I’m so stressed out and just want opinions on if I’m worrying unnecessarily or not.
I had a smear test four months ago which came back positive for HPV and minor cell changes, and was to be referred for a colposcopy. After dutifully waiting for my referral letter to come through, and nothing arriving, I called the clinic this morning to be told that I am on the waiting list but they cannot give me any indication as to when I may be seen, but it’s probably not going to be any time soon because they are prioritising cancer and major cell changes and only offering appointments for minor cell charges when those appointments aren’t filled.
While I completely understand this, surely this means that it will be borderline impossible for any less urgent cases to be seen. The colposcopy clinic has been running as normal during Covid too, so it’s not a delay due to that. I’m panicking that it’s been four months since my abnormal result and I’m no closer to knowing when I’ll be seen. Does anyone have any reassurance or advice?

That's awful OP. I understand they need to prioritise but like you say, when does everyone else get seen if that's the case. How long have you waited? Did you ask for an approximate timescale? Do you know what the NICE guidelines suggests for your type of referral? I'd be tempted to look into PAL for advice.
