This is so embarrassing for me to write but I need help!!! (Also sorry for the detail I'm about to give! Gross I know)

I'd say for the last 4 months I've had some problems... down there...

Me and my boyfriend are trying to conceive so obviously he ejaculates in me on my most fertile days! So after a few days I noticed a terrible smell (as sperm changes the pH in your vagina I know this) so I inserted a finger in the bath to try get rid of the sperm. In all fairness it smelt so much better and was clean etc. But now, my discharge, the general smell during sex and just after a bath etc is really fishy and strong and honestly gross! If I have a bath and If i don't douche now my discharge is honestly such a terrible smell! Do I need to go to the doctors for this and please just send advice me way!!!! Thank you

You can buy online products. They are not chemicals necessarily, so it may be worth trying those initially.

Most Doctors are only doing phone appts right now so I would get a canetest from the chemist which can determine if you have BV.

If it’s positive, then call your gp and he/she can send a prescription for antibiotics to your chemist.

BitOfFun · 25/08/2020 03:41

Is it canetest, or is that not the one for thrush? I don't know, I'm just going by the name. You definitely can get a test at the chemist though.

Thack · 25/08/2020 03:48

Isn't the canesten test just to indicate if it's thrush or bv? (and not prove an infection?)

Douching is probably making the problem worse at this stage. Call the gp or speak to a pharmacist - they can help you find something to clear it up. It's worth a phone call to put your mind at ease.

Good luck TTC! Fingers crossed for you.

Did you manage to get an appt?

misskick · 10/09/2020 23:38

You need antibiotics of the doctor, if you phone and tell them symptoms they may prescribe them over the phone. They have with me in the past!

If they prescribe you Metronidazole (which they do for me when I get a bout of BV) DO NOT DRINK ALCOHOL!!
