Tension headache 🤕

Has anybody had what I’m sure is a tension headache since Saturday?

It’s not always been a ‘headache’ it was more of a pain every so often at first but now it feels a little more throbbing at times, mainly in my forehead, both sides of head & some times back of neck?
Health anxiety through the roof :(

@Alongcameacat it’s a strange one, it’s been in a few places forehead, eye and side of head like temple.
And I’ve felt it in the back of my neck and behind ears too. If I’m going on right now, it’s all across my forehead and behind eye(s) sometimes when I feel like it radiates I cannot pin point exactly where it is :/

@mackerella
I have actually felt it on the bridge of my nose slightly also oh it’s such a strange one.

I’m sure we are all worried about our children going back to school :( I know he’s developed some anxiety’s about what’s right and wrong, can he go near people? Can he do this and that. He doesn’t like seeing masks etc either it’s awful for them. They have been great though and he has been kept with all of his friends so it’s still sort of familia for them all x

I will be trying these tablets from the pharmacy :) Thankyou for that x

@BusMum79
Thankyou for the recommendations. I did have a shower earlier this evening and washed my hair, I got a bit of relief I was massaging my head with shampoo 🤣 didn’t know about the ‘rolling shoulders’ I will do that tomorrow.
I currently have a ‘kool&soothe’ thing stuck to my forehead I don’t feel as though I’m getting much relief though I must admit and paracetamol haven’t done anything and I took 2 of those at 6:20pm. I will have to go to the pharmacy and try the syndol as apparently they are back.
Ooh I’ve never heard that, I’ve heard to stay away from caffeine when I’ve got a headache 🤕
I am going to go on amazon also right now and order a wheat pack. I’m feeling like my neck needs some support/soothing and that’s a brill idea 💡

Thankyou for your suggestions x

As well as all the drugs you can lay your hands on, I have found these exercises useful for neck tension headaches. www.avogel.co.uk/health/muscles-joints/neck-pain/exercises-for-neck-headaches/

ScorpioSphinxInACalicoDress · 20/08/2020 22:23

The old doolally syndol is back?
Oh thank the lord!

Mrslovexx · 20/08/2020 22:26

@ThePlantsitter Thankyou!! I will actually try anything for some relief 😫🤞x

@ScorpioSphinxInACalicoDress apparently so... They sound that good, I can’t wait to be dolally🤣
🥂 here’s to being dolally & finding some relief.
I’ve just also ordered the wheat pack from amazon to be delivered tomorrow! I feel like I’ll have my own chemist soon🤣 x

I've had them on and off all week, I think the humidity is triggering them. Today has been worse as DS1 got his GCSE results and I didn't sleep well last night. So a combination of lack of sleep and Adrenalin kicking in has left with feeling rubbish this afternoon Sad

BusMum79 · 20/08/2020 22:32

@Mrslovexx Hopefully it’ll pass soon. It’s so tricky - the hardest thing is to fall asleep when you’re in pain, but actually I find sleeping it off really helps. TBH I’m not sure the pharmacist necessarily meant I should try Coke (the advice was more something to do with the fizz helping it travel more quickly into the body I think) but then I had awful headaches in pregnancy and paracetamol did very little, however a little bit of caffeine did help(!). So anyway I’ve had to come up with an increasing list of headache tips! I also absolutely LOVE Neom, which does a lovely sleep range of face oils / pillow sprays etc and a bit of that is helpful when trying to relax. But the wheat pillow is the winner. Hope it works for you!

BusMum79 · 20/08/2020 22:33

Ps I’m THRILLED at the news of the old Syndol’s return!

IndieTara · 20/08/2020 22:54

@Mrslovexx the amitryptaline helped me sleep but I felt hungover and fuzzy the next day

ssd · 21/08/2020 08:50

Can anyone tell me what the old style syndol is called, apart from syndol? I don't want to buy the new one.

Chosennone · 21/08/2020 08:59

Is it hormone related?
Mine were awful when I had a Mirena in. I tend to get one mid cycle now, just before ovulation. When I had the mirena it was weekly. The GP diagnosed migraine rather than headache as I feel nauseous with them and when the headache has gone spaced out and hung over. Maybe worth checking with your GP.

Soluable asprin with coke as quick as you can helps. I will be seeking out syndol asap though. Flowers

ScorpioSphinxInACalicoDress · 21/08/2020 09:35

How are you feeling OP?
I also get migraines and sinus heads (I don't think there's a headache type I don't get!) and find with any headache full fat Coke or oddly, really salty things can stave it off. I always keep a can of coke and a bag of crisps around. Never touch either unless I'm headachy.
I can also recommend a Neti pot though I'm not as good using that as I should as it's a prevention for sinus trouble rather than a cure.
I wonder if Dolally Syndol will become the new Mumsnet scarf. Grin

IndieTara · 21/08/2020 09:54

@ssd it's still Syndol but is just paracetamol and codeine

Mrslovexx · 21/08/2020 11:19

I’m wondering if it’s hormone related, because I have a coil in but my coil is due out and I’ve never had this type of weird pain that’s been on and off for so long.
I will definitely try all those things but I just am at a loss if paracetamol and ibuprofen don’t take it away.
I’ve just called my GP’s for a call back, so hopefully they’ll be able to either see me or tell me what to do 😫🤦🏻‍♀️
The pain is slightly there this morning but it isn’t terrible. Sometimes it’s so hard to describe it or where it is because I’ve found it moves :/ hopefully I can get some answers because it’s stopping me doing anything my anxiety is so bad x

Spoke to a nurse on a call back, she basically said my symptoms are not piecing anything together. she can not pinpoint what it could be, she has said to try a nasel spray, etc and I have a follow up on Wednesday. If this doesn’t work, they can rule out viral and chronic sinusitis Hmm

I’m going to go to the chemist and try other things that have been suggested by you lovely lot. & my wheat pillow is being delivered today👏 So I shall also try that x

ssd · 22/08/2020 08:45

@Mrslovexx how are you feeling today x

Chosennone · 22/08/2020 09:23

Push for the mirena to be taken out. There is not kf evidence in can cause adverse side effects in some women. I even had a MRI scan on my brain as I'd been back to the GP so many times! It was clear. I then demanded it was taken out or I'd try and do it myself Confused.

Keep a track of days and possible triggers. Try and sleep properly and don't tighten up your jaw, shoulder or neck muscles. Mindfulness apps can help with associated anxiety Flowers

Mrslovexx · 22/08/2020 09:29

@ssd hey, I just feel deflated. I don’t have the pain at the moment they seem to come on during the day and feel worse at night.
I’m hoping to get some proper meds in place to help I’m really wondering if I’m having a crash episode from my CFS. I’ve had it 2 years and got so much better was able to do everything, had a few days of feeling ‘off’ but never like this x

@Chosennone
I will be speaking to my GP on a telephone call on Wednesday, I will hopefully end up going to see him and will speak about my coil being taken out. It is well overdue out anyway, I was due to have out in March but my appointment was cancelled 😌.
I was only at the GP a few weeks ago with severe pelvic pain I think due to my coil, he put it down as IBS and gave me meds which I know it isn’t.
My GP I will be speaking to on Wednesday I specifically requested as he’s the best I’ve dealt with, understands and listens. I feel like
My whole body is constantly tense. I think I clench my jaw without even realising especially when I’m asleep. I will download some apps and hope for the best. 🤞 x
