PID (pelvic inflammation disease)

Feeling a bit confused and upset. Might be long so bare with me.

A couple of weeks ago I called the sexual health clinic to arrange getting a coil fitted, I have been having lots of bleeding, heavy prolonged periods, bloating and pain. Suspected endometriosis so was advised the coil may help. After to talking to a doctor on the phone I was advised to get a full check up at the clinic before getting the coil fitted.

Today I went along to the clinic, was given a full check up, bloods taken, swaps taken and internal exam, during the exam it was clear I have some pain in my pelvis and at the back of my uterus. I was advised that I should be treated for PID whilst I wait for my swab results to come back despite me not having all the symptoms of PID, I was also told that if the antibiotics don’t work it’s likely my symptoms are endometriosis there for a could go ahead with the coil.

So I was giving a large injection of antibiotics and have been given 2 other types of antibiotic, one I have to take for 14 days, have been told this antibiotic means I can’t go out in the sun, can’t drink etc..
This seems a bit extreme when there’s no real proof of infection or a STI?

One of my swabs was tested at the clinic and came back all clear, urine sample all clear, just waiting on chlamydia and gonorrhea test resaults (next couple of days). I had a sti check just over a year ago and was all clear and have only slept with one person since and that was a few weeks ago (too soon for me to have developed PID from a STI and symptoms started over a year ago, it was the reason I took the STI test before.

I know there’s a small chance it wasn’t caused by a STI as can be caused by other things but STI’s being the main cause?

Has anyone else had PID not caused by STI?

The sexual health clinic have told me to inform the guy I have slept with (which I have) and insist that he has a test and antibiotics but this seems a bit OTT when it might not even be PID or a STI?

Also to add, the spotting and bleeding I have been experiencing only happens when I take the contraceptive pill, when off I don’t spot but have very heavy periods with clotting which can last 10+ days. I have been fighting for a gynaecologist appointment for ages but was told to try the coil which has lead me to today’s appointment.
