Bicornuate Uterus

Hi - very new to this- but seeking advice. I had a MRI it showed up a bicornate uterus I then had a ultra sound that confirmed it. I am now terrified that’s it for me and having kids - has anyone got any information about success rates? I have also seen it can cause birth defects but I’m having to wait to get all my results then again be referred to another doctor who specialises in this. I’m sick to death of being passed to pillar and post. This is a 2 year long process that was only caught when I had an MRI for a totally different reason! - anyone with any advice most welcome!

I don’t have any advice but I’ve had two DC who were born at 40 weeks and 37 weeks. Both healthy children. My bicornuate uterus was only discovered during my c-section for my second child. Both children were breech and its thought the bicornuate uterus was the cause. First DC was an undiagnosed breech resulting in an emergency c-section. Second was planned section. I had no problems conceiving.

Hi, I have one of those, and mentioned it every midwife appointment.

They weren’t really concerned, baby was on one side all through pregnancy and was a couple of days early so no affect particularly. (Now a strapping toddler)

It took 6 months of ttc so all within the realms of normality

My relative had this. She had to have a c section for all of her 3 kids but bar that no other complications.

Hi @folklord - I KNOW! I was packet off with a smile and - just try naturally! But it all seems to be stacked against you but from the previous comments maybe not! It’s all very confusing and nothing seems clear! The ladies above said some very positive stories which is great!

Yes so many positive stories on past mumsnet posts too. I have to have a hycosy to see what extent there is and whether it is septate. Was supposed to be a routine scan to check all in order before having IUI. I did not expect her to find a problem! And now I need to see how bad it is to decide whether it's worth having IUI knowing the risks are increased. But the doctor did say she could go ahead with IUI without getting the hycosy and see what happens so she seemed comfortable enough that it wasn't a deal breaker. I'm so reassured by the anecdotal stories on here!

Hello I have this too it was found during the birth of my first child. I've gone on to have 2 other children since and it has never caused me any trouble and the midwifes haven't shown any concern.

Hi I have a septate bicornate uterus with two cervixes and I have had two successful pregnancies, no losses. Both were delivered early, 3 weeks then 8 weeks early probably due to lack of space and second was breech for similar reasons but otherwise uneventful. Took a year to conceive the first but I think that was more to do with the depo shot than anything.
