Hi all... newbie here!! Just been reading through some old posts on the site and it seems like this is some where I could ask these questions so here goes....
What was your first symptoms of cervical cancer?
And has anyone ever had a ectropian turn out to be cancer?
Heres a little bit about my background....
I'm 27 and have been experiencing pain during and after sex, bleeding in between cycles not heavy bleeding just spotting and streaks.
Increased watery discharge (lots of it)
Lower back pain
Pelvic tenderness and pain.
And numbness (fizziness) in my left leg.
This has been going on for over 18 months I visited my gp in October last year who looked at my cervix and and referred me to gynae under the 2 week rule.
At my gynae appointment, the consultant took a look down using a speculum and checked me for any stis there and told me I have a cervical erosion.
He asked me what was causing me the most problems the post sex bleeding or the pain....I explained the pain was persistent and was affecting my life - he asked me about my background I explained I had a csection in 2015 and he then put the pain down to adhesions from the surgery and told me the cervical erosion would heal on it's own....he then discharged me from gynae and told me to practice exercises to help these 'adhesions'
Well fast forward to now I'm still in constant pain worse than before,
The bleeding is happening alot more and my periods have become particular heavy ( if always been a light flow) I'm terrified its something more sinister!!!
Has anyOne been through anything similar?
I'm reluctant to go back to the gp after keep being fobbed off. Xx

A lady I know had severe bleeding all the time and the GP fobbed her off. She went to Marie Stopes who listened to her and got a diagnosis. She's been treated and is fine.

Thanks for your reply I have just called my gp again this morning for an app so I'm hoping things will get investigated further this time... I have every single symptom of cervical cancer and its causing my mind to run wild 🤯🤯🤯 I know the symptoms could be a number of things but I cant help thinking the worst x

I really hope your GP takes you seriously and either puts your mind at ease or gets you a constructive plan of action xxx

How did it go at the doctors?

Spied · 13/08/2020 20:02

Hope you have got a referral.
I have an ectropian. Terrible bleeding after sex. Colposcopy Dr was pretty sure it was an ectropian but did a biopsy to check.
Awaiting results...

DaisyF1986 · 13/08/2020 20:08

I had no symptoms whatsoever. Just showed up as abnormal cells on a routine smear.
Hope everything works out for you xx

You didn't say if you were up to date with your smears. That would be the best place to start.
If you're 27, did you have the HPV vaccinations at school? If you did, it's incredibly unlikely to be cervival cancer.

WoWsers16 · 26/08/2020 08:27

I went in for an ectropion- after bleeding after sex. I've had no pain and clear smears.
Unfortunately the consultant couldn't go through with the ectropion and without my knowledge did a biopsy.
Once done and we were sat at her desk she told me i had cervical cancer - a week later I've already had an MRI and waiting for a PET scan.

I am so impressed with the speed of my doctors and hospital (Lincolnshire area) x

Also I've always tested negative for HPV but hasn't stopped cervical cancer unfortunately :(
