Weird periods- should I worry?

Had my period 2 weeks ago- was a day later than usual (30 days when usually 28/29) and it was lighter and dark brown, lasted 3 days instead of usual 5.

Wrote it off as a weird one. Now, two weeks later, I’ve started to bleed. This is like my usual first day bleed. Red and not much. Waiting to see if it turns heavier like it usually would for a normal period. Or if it stops.

Anyone had this and it just be a quirk? I’ve had none of the following: pains, feeling bloated, sick, appetite fine not feeling full quickly. So no symptoms of ovarian cancer. But I have health anxiety so that is my immediate thought.

We’re due to exchange on Wednesday so packing and kids not been sleeping and being difficult so it’s been stressful. Could it be that?

Are you sure you're not pregnant?

Elouera · 05/07/2020 10:17

Have you done a pregnancy test?
Peri-menopause?
Have you left a tampon in?
Any chance its an STI?
Change in meds/contraception?

Readysetcake · 05/07/2020 10:19

Mmm well unlikely but not an impossibility I guess. But I’ve not got sickness and I’ve had three pregnancies (two children) and with all of them I was feeling very sick by 5/6 weeks. So surely I’d be wanting to hurl by now?

I’m 36 so maybe peri menopause? Bit early though?
Don’t use tampons
No changes to thyroid meds
No chance of STI- DH has not been away from house since lockdown and I trust him implicitly.

Every pregnancy is different. Plus what you're describing might be a sign of a failing pregnancy (sorry, I don't mean to worry you unnecessarily, I had 3 losses myself so been through all sorts of issues with pregnancies). I would definitely do a test and also ask your GP for a blood test, even if you get a BFN.

Readysetcake · 05/07/2020 10:24

Ok thank you. I will do a test. Think I have one in the bathroom somewhere.

I hope you get an answer soon, all the best Flowers

If it is positive, I'd be ringing my local Early Pregnancy Unit and explaining the issues you've had with bleeding, I'd expect they should scan you asap even with the current covid restrictions. Take care xx

I’ve had similar in the past and it has just been a rogue cycle, probably stress related. If what you’ve got now develops into your normal period I wouldn’t worry about it.

Readysetcake · 05/07/2020 10:36

That reassuring @FeedMeWell thank you. If it’s a negative test and turns in to my usual period I will try not too worry.
