Awaiting Hysterectomy - anyone else?

Hello,
I’m currently waiting for a date for surgery for a hysterectomy. I have adenomyosis.

Anyone else in the same boat and nervous about having an operation with the current ongoing situation ? And waiting for their date?

I'm not waiting, but had mine two weeks ago. I had a womb cancer diagnosis, luckily grade 1, stage 1a, so everything taken out.

I was petrified - it all happened really quickly so I got myself into a fight state about COVID, being in hospital, the anaesthetic and the op, but honestly it was fine. I had it done laparoscopically so was only in one night. I was looked after really well. I couldn't have anyone with me - DH had to drop me at the door and meet me again the next day which was the worst bit.

Good luck OP and I hope it all goes well.

Thank you for your reply.
I’m glad the op went well for you; I’m sorry to hear about your diagnosis hopefully you’re on the way to recovery now Flowers

I’ll be having an abdominal one so expecting to stay a night or two dreading not having visitors and being unable to see my partner or children I think that’s what’s making me most anxious!

Tbh I didn't have much time to miss anyone. The nurses were checking me every hour or so right through the night. Do take magazines, iPad/phone with a long charging cable, books etc as I was quite bored especially the next morning when I felt a bit better.

There's a brilliant Facebook group called Hysterectomy Sisters you might want to join. It's full of support and advice - I've found it invaluable.

Oh brilliant I will check those out thankyou!
Good luck with your recovery. Flowers

I’m waiting for mine. However, I only went on the list in January and at the time they told me the waiting list was approximately 9 months. Covid then happened so it’ll probably be at least a year. Nervous about having it done but can’t bear the thought of another 12 months of symptoms Sad

Good luck op, I had adenomyosis and very large fibroids. Hysterectomy was the best thing to happen to me and I got my life back.

Pilates; thankyou so much. I can’t wait to try and get some of my life back.

@Watto1 I went on the list in March after having zoladex injections. I’ve been really really struggling and I spoke to the secretary to my consultant and a few weeks ago was told there was still restrictions so no elective going ahead then on Friday I was told things are restarting and they’ll try to bring it forward, although I’ll have to self isolate before it. I’d definitely try and speak to your consultant or the secretary if you’re really struggling.
