Do I need to cancel smear?

I was invited for one about a year and a half ago, but the found I was pregnant with DD. Should have rebooked when she was 3 months, but didn't get round to it, then lockdown. Anyway, I now have an appointment later today, and my period has just started.

I had no idea it was coming, as it's the first since DD was born (breastfeeding), otherwise I would have booked for the middle of my cycle. At the minute the flow is relatively light, if that makes a difference. I would really prefer not to cancel as DH has taken time off work to have DC, but will if I need to.

Dose anyone know the rules around this?

Sorry but hopefully bump as I need to let them know asap if I'm not going.

When I was last booking one I was told mid cycle is best. It's not that it can't be done during your period but it's more accurate when done mid cycle

I had one on Monday & they said not to go if bleeding.
