Breast lump - hand hold or something :(

Hey lovelies, I just want some sort of reassurance and anyone else’s experiences really.

I recently found a pea sized firm round lump in my right breast. I left it a while to see if it changes due to menstrual cycle but it didn’t change at all. It isn’t painful either, it literally just feels like a frozen pea in my boob. I can’t tell if it moves or not, it feels like it can move slightly but an unsure. I am only 28, no history of BC in the family but nan did have ovarian cancer in her late 20’s (unsure if this could be relevant). I was fine until I started Googling (Stupid I know!) and have now got myself worked up and can’t stop thinking that although rare, people in their 20’s can get diagnosed with BC.

I have my breast referral appointment tomorrow (it has been a long hard wait :( ) but I basically, just wanted to know if anyone else had a similar sounding lump which turned out to be benign and nothing to worry about? I’m also going on my own tomorrow, due to Covid-19 and am worried if I may get bad news I’ll have to deal with it on my own.

Sorry for waffling on and my bad grammar. Hoping for a little positivity x

How did you get on? Hope all went well 🤞

Missdeedeex · 29/05/2020 06:54

Hello @KobeWan, yes all was well thanks for asking. The lump was a cyst (diagnosed by ultrasound) I asked how they knew it was benign and they said it had all the features of one and so that was that.

KobeWan · 29/05/2020 07:26

That's great news! 🥳 But what happens to the cyst? Will it sort itself over time or will they remove it?

Missdeedeex · 29/05/2020 07:46

@KobeWanThey said cysts are usually left. Unless they get larger and/or cause extreme pain or it effects your day to day life. Sometime cysts can go on their own. But yes, they advise to just leave them. Are you ok? Are you currently going through a breast issue?

My breast clinic appointment is today - really quick referral as I only discovered the lump two weeks ago. I'm quite calm about it actually and almost certain I'll get the same outcome as you. Looking forward to it being done and dusted though! Then I'm going to have a big glass of wine in the sunshine!

Hello sorry only just seen this @KobeWan!! How did you get on???

KobeWan · 30/05/2020 19:45

Really thoughtful and caring experience. Weighed and measured, then had an interview and an ultrasound with some kind of doctor/consultant and a registrar. The doctor then sent me to a radiographer for a further scan. Had quite a long wait but it's nice to be out of the house at the moment so didn't mind too much! They had the telly on so I watched This Morning and Loose Women!
Went in to see the next person and could see my boobs on a computer screen - definite dark mass visible but I was very British and didn't ask any questions. She was chatting about me on the phone to the doctor I'd seen earlier, which was weird! The radiographer did a further ultrasound and then asked to do a biopsy - I think it was a fine needle aspiration but I'm not sure. I'm not good with stuff like this so I forewarned them and gave them my partner's mobile number. They used a local anaesthetic but I fainted (as I predicted I might) and was quite nauseous. They got me tea and biscuits and arrange for me to be collected by my OH. Very embarrassing!
Anyway, apparently I should have gone back to see the original doctor but they decided I wasn't well enough so I came home and I'll be advised of some kind of appointment next week for the results.
I'm still feeling quite positive and hopeful it's nothing to worry about.
Last night, when I was feeling recovered, I had more than my fair share of wine!!!

KobeWan · 30/05/2020 19:46

Have you got an appointment coming up @Tink2007 ?

june2007 · 30/05/2020 19:55

Keep us updated @KobeWan

KobeWan · 02/06/2020 10:27

Hi! No news yet. Not sure whether I'm expecting a phone call or a letter or what?! Was feeling so out of it after fainting that I didn't think to clarify. Anyway, still feeling very positive and keeping my mind off it.

KobeWan · 12/06/2020 22:51

Still no news - slowly going demented! It's Friday night so will be Monday at the very earliest...

Missdeedeex · 12/06/2020 23:16

@KobeWan oh hun! It’s such a horrible time the waiting! Hopefully you get something next week! Keep us updated

KobeWan · 15/06/2020 12:29

After the postman has been and still no sign of a letter, I rang the breast clinic earlier today - they said I'll get a letter later in the week. They confirmed over the phone that my case had been reviewed at the MDT and that I'm being discharged. So that's a relief - must just be something benign.

KobeWan · 15/06/2020 12:29

*had not has

Missdeedeex · 15/06/2020 12:54

Sounds like nothing to worry about! Still let us know when you get the letter later this week @KobeWan
