Abdominal pain and frequent urination

For the last 3/4 weeks I’ve been experiencing sharp and also dull pains in the lower abdominal that come and go but I feel them every day (can be extremely painful) I also have the feeling of a full bladder even if I peed 5 minutes ago, it doesn’t sting when I wee, my bladder just feels uncomfortable all the time. I’m also sleeping 12 hours a day and feel exhausted all the time. I’ve called the doctors and because of covid-19 they basically said they are concentrating on other things and it doesn’t sound like anything I should worry about. We all know when something isn’t right with our bodies and I’ve research my symptoms for hours and just want answers. I was wondering if anyone can relate?
I need to mention I had the copper coil fitted 3 months ago. I also had an STI (chlamydia) 5 weeks ago and took medication for it.

Do you have a uti maybe? As that can cause abdominal pain. Maybe ring the go and explain, they may prescribe antibiotics and test your urine even if they won’t see you. I had similar to you.

Sounds like a UTI. You’ll need antibiotics if it is. Ring 111 and say you think you have one, they may just prescribe antibiotics for you to collect from your local pharmacy.

I took antibiotics for a UTI as I also thought it was that but still no change ☹️ That was around a week ago

In my experience with a UTI they prescribe either the wrong antibiotic (because they haven't had the sample back yet) or a 3 day course only which don't work and then get the 7 day course which finally does work.

GinandGingerBeer · 03/05/2020 09:35

I would definitely phone back. A UTI can turn very nasty if not treated

Bagelsandbrie · 03/05/2020 09:38

Some UTIs I’ve had take 2 course of different antibiotics to clear and some don’t work for some people. (I suffer with recurrent UTIs and have taken daily long term antibiotics since I was 14, am now nearly 40, I increase the dose or take different ones if I have a flare up). Definitely seek medical advice.

EricaNernie · 03/05/2020 09:39

do you have a sexual health clinic you can contact? i dont think copper coils are compatible with sti, i recall

cornersteps · 03/05/2020 09:55

You say your doctor told you not to worry but that last week you took anti biopics. Where did you get them? If your GP didn't prescribe you anything how can you know you took the right thing?

Leannenat · 03/05/2020 10:01

@cornersteps I got the antibiotics from an online pharmacy, you have to do a detailed questionnaire before you are prescribed them. @EricaNernie yes, I am going to them next week as they said they are going to check for a womb infection.
Can a UTI cause sever period like pains? Has anyone had this before?
