Daughter started her periods

Hi my daughter was 11 in January and the poor thing started her periods in the Feb. She didn't have one in March but had a really heavy one in April which lasted 8 days. Now only 2 wks later she is on again.
I'm sure it's OK as her body is gettin used to it and they can be up and down. But just wanted to make sure. Anyone got any advice or in the same boat. Thanks xx

Hi OP, I started me periods when I had just turned 11 and remember them being all over the place for a bit. I would suggest maybe waiting about 6 months to see how they go and if they are still heavy and very frequent I'd make a GP appt for her. They may check her hormone levels.
I'm sure she'll be fine though OP x

Pretty normal to take a while to get regular.

I started mine at the same as your daughter, I was the first in my group of friends. It took a while for mine to settle, I wrote the date I started on a calendar (I still do now!) so you can see if a pattern is forming but I remember it being about 6 months before I actually started to see a pattern so I wouldn’t be too concerned yet.

Hi re1805 , I hope your DD will be ok, it is normal to have irregular periods at start.
I just had another chat with my 11 yr old DD about periods and what to expect. It is not the first conversation but we had an opportunity for a refresher so I thought I will mention it again as she just turned 11.
I am very curious to know how did your DD accepted it? Did she freak out first time or was relaxed abut it?

Hi, I hope she's ok with this traumatic development in her young life. I remember starting mine aged 13 and I bled for several months before it settled into a monthly routine. It differs with every girl but there's huge variation so it's best to not worry too much x

I remember starting mine & it wasn't a regular monthly thing to begin with.
However, My sister, also 11, started hers 6 weeks ago & has been having a period every 2 weeks. Very heavy & with clots - I'm not sure this is normal?

Thanks for the replies

Sorry not sure how to tag haven't been on here very long.

She accepted it really well like you we had lots of chats I'm very open. After her first one she cried one day think it was just a release. I worried she would be sad now as this is her second one on 2 wks but she's fine.
I go in the bathroom with her n help her if she needs it.. She asks me to now if she needs if she doesn't she just does it herself. Sometimes I remind her if she had changed recently.

My daughter second period she had small clots I read up and it's normal as long as they aren't as big as a 10p. Hope that helps x

Definitely let them settle down. I recall I had one in November age 12 and then I didn't have another until the following August. Then I was like clockwork and still am. I think it takes a while for a pattern to develop.
