Bad abdominal pain - doctor doesn't care

I suffer with endometriosis. A chronic illness so I am used to pain and discomfort.

Over the last 4 days I've had really bad lower abdominal pain. I fobbed it off for the first few days and thought it would go. However today is day 4 and is getting progressively worse. I am concerned because I suspect I have developed an infection. I had a Mirena coil fitted in February and have been under close watch because I am a difficult case (the last coil fell out!) I've been feeling off colour, weak and it hurts to pass a number 2 on the toilet. I've rested all day and feeling shitty. Starting to feel sick and hurts to walk.

I called 111 today and was referred to have a doctor call me back. I waited 5 hours and the doctors advice ..... take paracetamol.......

Because of all the Covid stuff everything is closed down and my follow up gynaecology appointments for my operation and coil have been cancelled and I'm totally unsure what to do ... no one I call is taking me seriously because they are to busy with Covid patients. I'm normally so used to putting up with pain etc but this is different. I don't make a fuss over small stuff and wouldn't usually go to A&E because it's not life and death but I am really in a lot of pain now and worried it's an infection.....

Am I over reacting or should I go to A and E to get checked. ??? WWYD ?

Get offline now and go to A & E. You need to be seen directly.

The Mirena coil is often given to endometriosis patients and its not always suitable for them to have.

Have you called your own gp?

Fellow endo sufferer here, did you get checked?

MFran694 · 29/04/2020 09:48

Hey update
I finally managed to speak to a qualified doctor who didn't fob me off and has sent me meds - still waiting to receive them but better than nothing

Have you been checked for an infection? How you are feeling ok and the meds work.

There is a campaign launching tomorrow telling people to get back to the NHS they are so connected about things being missed. Please get help if you need it
