Herpes HSV2 advice

I found out I had hsv2 around a year ago which devastated me. Being in a long term relationship and it just randomly appeared one day, I feel awful and down about the situation a lot of the time as I have had recurring outbreaks since.

I need some help/advice on how to stop them from recurring if anyone has any? I was taking acyclovir daily as a suppressant, but these made me feel ill taking 2 or even 1 a day and I would like to know if any natural remedies help. I do not want to be taking antiviral tablets daily forever!

I take daily vit c, zinc, vit b and recently started taking lysine.

Is there anything I can apply topically at all?

Any help or any one with experience with reoccurring hsv would be a god send right now. Star

You poor thing I know how you feel it’s horrible when you find out and then have to deal with reoccurring outbreaks. As far as suppressive medication they’re are alternatives to acciclovir but you would have to speak to your doctor.
A Topical treatment I tend to find help is applying tea tree oil with a cotton pad to the sores you can dilute if needed but it’s one of the essential oils you don’t have to. It may sting a bit at first but I find it helps with healing faster and also kills any bacteria that can make them worse.
I have also used acciclovir cream occasionally on the affected area.
I hope this helps you iv had this for nearly ten years now but your body learns to fight it so you will have less outbreaks over time as antibodies are created by your body.

Thank you so much for replying to me. It's hard work I feel like I'm fighting a losing battle constantly! I just don't want to be taking anti viral medication forever and it seems to make my skin really sensitive to sunlight.. which I've never had any problems in the sun before I never burn!

Would you use the tea tree oil at the first sign of a tingle or would I be able to also use it now during an outbreak? What accylivor cream did you use previously - a lot of the cold sore ones say not to use on the genital area but not sure if that's just because it hasn't been tested properly as a pose to it being harmful.

Thank you ! X

Hi yes i use the tea tree at first signs and during an outbreak.
Yes I just use the general cold sore creams I know they say to not use in genitals but I have done and don’t see how it can do any harm obviously I don’t use it internally just externally. I don’t have any medical knowledge to say it’s safe for anyone but it’s worked fine for me. Xx

I've used Zovirax topically with no issues OP, it does help. I'm 20 years post-diagnosis and haven't had an outbreak in several years now, no idea why, can only assume I have lots of antibodies now. I had lots of recurrent outbreaks in the early days, it's miserable so I really feel for you OP. I never really tried treating it, just suffered for the most part so I hope you find something that works Flowers

Hsv2 is gential don't apply anything with out checking with GP FIRST!!!!!! Those saying tea tree or zovirax are talking about mouth sores hsv 1.

Ann0n · 19/04/2020 12:48

@Hidingtonothing thank you, did you use ZOVIRAX down below?

I really do hope I start to build some antibodies soon because they are popping up every other week and it's exhausting x

Just to be clear I’m not talking about mouth sores I’m talking about genital herpes and yes I’m not a doctor just saying what has worked for me xx

Ann0n · 19/04/2020 13:04

@Iknowhowyoufeel0 thank you Smile I thought so. There is so much cross over between HSV1 and hsv2 as I was told by the doctor. They are the same virus so not sure why it wouldn't work x

Yes I'm talking about genital sores, I think they only say not to use due to lack of research or concerns that people will use internally, for external sores I have used with no issues. This site is good if you have questions OP, there's a helpline too herpes.org.uk/

Natural Approach to Getting Rid of Herpes

Some individuals have reported success with alternative treatments for managing herpes symptoms. One such approach involves using herbal remedies, such as those offered by Green Life Herbal Home. Their Herpes Herbal Cleanser has been mentioned in testimonials as a potential solution. So when I got diagnosed is hsv2 in 2018, I had to try it out and it got rid of the virus in no time..
