Long-term Mirena user (have my 2nd coil) occasional spotting? Normal?

Hi Ladies,

I'm looking for some reassurance/experience relating to the long term use of Mirena coils please.

I had my 1st coil inserted in 2015 and last year had it replaced, so the current one has been in about 12 months. I've always had occasional spotting which look like small clots but I think it's just a few dots of blood within my discharge - (sorry for TMI)

I had it 3.5 weeks ago and again today. I'm wondering if this is normal or something to be concerned about? The Mirena has completely stopped my periods.

Any thoughts appreciated :)

Hi, if you move your cervix gently do you have any cervical motion tenderness? Can you feel the strings?
Kate.

Hi Kate,
Thanks for the reply.
there's no tenderness but no I can't feel strings. having said that I couldn't feel the strings on my 1st coil either, they had worked their way up but it was still in place.

I think it's still there as I'm not bleeding as I would during a normal period, just spotting which I only notice when I wipe after the loo.

Hi, did you go for an internal after 6 months? Were you spotting then?
