Should this still be happening?

Had an operation around 6-7 weeks ago. Laparoscopy and hysterscopy. Also had a coil put in.
Was bleeding continuously and now just had a period. Am now still bleeding after my period has stopped. It's just been a continuous bleed.
Hospital phoned to check up and I ask about the bleeding (this was before my period had started) said it was normal to "spot as such" and to call back if it doesn't stop. They said this was due to the coil.
I will phone back tomorrow for medical advise. But wondered if anyone else who had the coil fitted bleed for this long after??

Mirena?
I had one for 9 months, bled every single day. They kept telling me it can take a while to settle.....just leave it a little longer...... 9 months! I was begging them to remove it in the end.
However, I also had the same problem on the progesterone only pill so clearly progesterone was the problem.
Plenty of women get on brilliantly with the coil.

Thank you for the reply. That's what I'm worried about it not actually stopping at all!

Mine took a long time (couple of months) to settle. As long as it’s not a weird colour or smell then keep going, mine was def worth it in the end!

Thank you. I'm hoping it stops. I know this isn't high priority but I miss sex haha! I had a long period for two weeks prior to my op!

Didn’t stop sexBlush , just used a condom & a towel under my bottom - and it helped with cramping

I am tempted as it's gone back to the spotting - which is more annoying then a period as i never know how heavy it's going to be!
I may suggest the towel tonight but I'm allergic to condoms (hopefully I have some of the non latex ones about)
